Description
This was one of the last live figure sessions before the COVID-19 lockdown. I decided later to put the mask on as a reminder of our trails with the virus.
I have great interest in figure drawing. I started studying the art in 1982 while I was studying at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende. The body is a pure expression of our humanity. We all can relate to the grace and beauty of the human figure and at the same time use the body to express angst and strife. As human we are in this condition together and my goal to to express that in my art.
I use soft pastels for my pastel drawings. Soft pastels are a versatile medium that allow you to build layers of brilliant colors and tones. I mark with the pastel to express the visceral feeling I get during the figure session. I find the wonderful colors of pastel is an excellent medium for the human figure.
