Hosted by @backfencesociety Mather created such an inviting and art deco environment. I thought of a lady waiting at a garden party.
I have great interest in figure drawing. I started studying the art in 1982 while I was studying at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende. The body is a pure expression of our humanity. We all can relate to the grace and beauty of the human figure and at the same time use the body to express angst and strife. As human we are in this condition together and my goal to to express that in my art.
Conte’ drawing is done in sepia color which makes me think of historical drawing. The crayon allow for only a little bit of detailing so I need to draw with immediacy. The result is a soothing scene of sepia Conte’ and the white of the paper. My hope is that the tactility of the original markmaking and beauty of the Conte’ creates an exciting effect for the purchaser of these drawing.
